Campaign Story

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) quoted Allah as saying:

“O son of Adam, I asked you for food and you fed Me not.” (The person) will respond: “O Lord, how could I feed You when You are the Lord of the worlds?” (Allah) will then say: “Did you not know that My (hungry servant) asked you for food and you fed him not? Did you not know that had you fed him you would surely have found (the reward for doing so) with Me?”

Hadith Qudsi 18

Poverty and inequality continue to affect millions across South Africa. High unemployment, particularly among young people, combined with rising food costs and overcrowded living conditions, has left many families struggling to meet their basic needs.

Nearly 2 in 5 South Africans are living below the poverty line. Children and young people are particularly affected, with almost half of all poor individuals under the age of 18, and poverty remaining the highest among younger age group.

Unemployment remains a major challenge, with an overall unemployment rate of around 32%, and youth unemployment exceeding 45%.

Economic pressures including limited job opportunities, rising living costs, and unequal access to basic services leaves many households struggling to cover essential needs like food, healthcare, housing and education.
