I will be embarking on a gruelling four-day cycling challenge from the 10th – 17th July in Bosnia with other Islamic Relief volunteers and staff from around the world in aid of water projects.
Our cycling adventure will cover the beautiful hills and rivers of Bosnia and will include visiting a few project sites and the Srebrenica on the anniversary of the massacre that started the Bosnian war.
While we pass these sites, I will remember those who have lost their lives in this tragedy but I will also remember those men, women and children who live in the worst of conditions because they do not have access to clean, safe drinking water.
Did you know that the lack of clean water is silently killing one child every single minute?
The statistics are truly shocking: nearly 800 million people have no access to clean water, while a woman in Africa walks an average of 6km a day to fetch clean water.
The problem is getting worse as climate change causes more and more droughts, leaving large areas of land dry and arid.
I have pledged to raise R30,000 towards Islamic Relief’s Water 4 Life projects.
You can help me make a difference.
Donate any amount and let’s save lives, together!
