السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته/May Peace Blessings and God’s Mercy Be Upon You

For those who don’t know me, my name is Laylah, and I’m turning 21 this Ramadan. There’s little in this world I want more than to see a free Palestine. In honor of the most blessed month of the year, I’m raising a grand total of R21,000 for Palestine.

Since Israel’s bombardment began on October 7, 2023, the escalation of violence, which lasted 15 months, has tragically resulted in the death of over 45,000 Palestinians. Another 11,100 have been injured, while more than 11,200 people remain missing, with 70% being women and children. Despite the ceasefire that began on January 19, 2025, violence continues. More than 160 Palestinians have been recovered from under rubble since the ceasefire, highlighting the ongoing risks of the aggression’s aftermath. (Islamic Relief, 2025)

Since the ceasefire began, over 3,200 aid trucks have entered Gaza, providing partial relief to the suffering population. However, aid continues to be hindered by the devastation caused by Israeli attacks, including the destruction of 70% of Gaza’s roads and water infrastructure. Most of the forcibly displaced Palestinians remain homeless, and only half of Gaza’s 36 hospitals are still partially operational. (Islamic Relief, 2025)

The damage to infrastructure has left 300,000 people homeless in northern Gaza, where 80% of buildings have been destroyed. The impact on Gaza’s children is especially harrowing, with nearly 38,500 orphans reported since the beginning of the conflict. Additionally, 13,901 women have been widowed. The destruction of families has left a generation of children deeply traumatized and vulnerable (Islamic Relief, 2025)

With this information, I urge you to donate whatever you can to the Palestinian people during this month of giving. Remember, every donation, no matter how big or small, will help someone in need.
